You have heard the call to action: our students are digital natives and we need to teach them 21st century skills. But, what does this look like in writing classrooms? In this Web seminar, we will explore how well-established practices in the writing workshop approach—student choice and inquiry, conferring on writing, examining author’s craft, publishing writing, and broadening our understandings of assessment—can be adapted with digital writing tools such as blogs, wikis, collaborative word processors, and digital stories. Through examples of student and teacher work, as well as explanations of particular digital writing tools, participants in this session will discover how to create a digital writing workshop in their own classroom.
