For each poet, editor Bernice Cullinan highlights five poems—poems that children across the country selected as their favorites. And whether they are about "pickety" fences, rabbits, or jam, all these poems are special because of their ability to make children laugh or tell a story. Cullinan also includes an "About the Poets" section that not only provides biographical information, but insight into each poet's writing as well.
